blindness

you know when you

hear about something 

bad happening to someone

and you think

'there are a lot of people out there

and somehow bad stuff only

happens to them

well my aunt had a shaggy haired dog

and when it got wet

there was a very distinct smell

that was hard to stand

but she would wait around

motionless

and appear cold

i was talking with

two people in my living room

it got cold

one person said

i'm going to bed

we kept talking

then i got up for a beer

and the other two got up

and one person offered me some

money for a beer

i said they didn't need to give me money

and gave that person a beer

then i said i'd stay up 

in the living room 

if they weren't tired

then i went into a closet

and put on a sweatshirt

it's windy and raining

and our windows are open

i went to the windows

and looked out

i think my hand was on the rocking chair

i sipped the beer

two voices are in a bedroom
